Case Study

Dilemma

An organization in the midst of professionalizing internal norms and systems after a founder-led period, was experiencing friction around misalignment on values and vision. The organization had a number of leadership transitions and there was a growing feeling of disconnection between staff and board. Collectively, they committed to a strategic visioning process to re-align their values and make key leadership decisions.

Process

We conducted 1:1 interviews with all board members, founders, and key staff members. An organizational assessment was conducted for board and staff as well. The board and interim director participated in a facilitated, multi-day retreat to receive the aggregated feedback from interviews/ assessments and engaged in courageous, solution-oriented conversations that addressed the root issues and re-established connection.

Outcomes

Through the process, the board realigned their mission to the organization, re-crafted a mission statement, established agreements around programming and the needed leadership structure. They left with a renewed connection to their collective power and a shared understanding of how to define success.
